Fingerprint Process for ACE Volunteers in California

To ensure the safety of youth participants, All ACE Mentors who are active on a team are required to successfully pass a name-based background check through Sterling Volunteers.

In California, there are some volunteers who must also complete a fingerprint-based background check (AKA Livescan background check) and complete youth protection training, referred to mandated reporter training. If you are a volunteer who administers ACE programming, or has direct contact with, or supervision of, ACE participants for more than 16 hours per month or 32 hours per year, you must have a fingerprint-based background check and complete mandated reporter training.

This in addition to the name-based Sterling Volunteer background check and the online orientation you complete for ACE.

Your affiliate leader will let you if you need the fingerprint background check and mandated reporter training.
